{"id":2,"date":"2016-01-18T15:10:22","date_gmt":"2016-01-18T15:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/v2.pazodapenamanzaneda.com\/v2\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2019-11-05T10:22:01","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T10:22:01","slug":"a-pena-preciosa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pazodapena.com\/en\/a-pena-preciosa\/","title":{"rendered":"A Pena Preciosa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-1\"><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-10\">\r\n<p class=\"centered\" style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><em><b>It is impossible to understand the story of this noble home without the incredible natural jewel upon which it is constructed: A PENA \r\n(Galician for boulder)\r\n<\/b><\/em><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"centered\">Pazo da Pena was a noble house which was built in the 16th Century, constructed over a beautiful and enormous boulder \u2013 or pe\u00f1a \u2013 from which it receives its name.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"centered\">It can be found in the village of Rozavales, which belongs to the town of Manzaneda, in the wonderful Ribeira Sacra of the river Bibei, district of the Terra de Trives.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 pena1 .centered\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2221 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pazodapena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/preciosa_f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-1\"><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-10\">\r\n<div class=\"section-header centered\" style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">\r\n<h2>Lineage<\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p class=\"centered\"><b>The coat of arms of the manor can be found just to the right of the main gate of the fa\u00e7ade, through which one can access the \u201cPatio of the Master\u201d (Patio del Se\u00f1orito).<\/b><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"centered\"><b>In it are presented, very well preserved, the crests of the four surnames of its founder: Gaioso, Lousada, Quiroga and Dom\u00ednguez.<\/b><\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-1\"><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-10\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/escudo-en.png\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-1\"><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-10\">\r\n<div class=\"section-header centered\" style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">\r\n<h2>The Architecture<\/h2>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p class=\"centered\">The floor of the manor corresponds to a rectangular form with two towers in the corners, typical of the manorial style of architecture. <\/p>\r\n<p class=\"centered\">The whole building is orientated around two patios: the largest, known as the Patio of the Master (Patio de Se\u00f1orito), has two lounges and the stately rooms around it; meanwhile the other, much smaller, is situated in the part which housed the servants.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 pena pena6 .centered\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2468 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/preciosa6-en.png\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 pena pena7 .centered\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2468 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/preciosa7-en.png\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<p><span class=\"pena-andar\" style=\"color: #3687b9;\">SECOND FLOOR<\/span><br>\r\n\r\nThe second and highest floor is the floor with the least surface area. In the noble part, this floor only contains the room in the tower known as A Trasfega. In the servants\u2019 part of the building, the highest floor consists of eight of the manor\u2019s fifteen rooms.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span class=\"pena-andar\" style=\"color: #3687b9;\">MAIN FLOOR<\/span><br>\r\n\r\nThe main floor has the largest surface area and houses the main chambers, extending between the stately and workers parts, connected through a single door.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p><span class=\"pena-andar\" style=\"color: #3687b9;\">LOWER FLOOR<\/span><br>\r\n\r\nThe lower floor of the building is occupied solely by functional areas, and is comprised of large spaces which were originally intended for service rooms, animal sheds, stables etc.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-12 pena4 .centered\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2468 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pazodapena.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pena4.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<div class=\"row\" style=\"padding-top: 30px;\">\r\n<div class=\"col-md-1\"><\/div>\r\n<div class=\"col-md-10\">\r\n<p class=\"centered\">In the principal fa\u00e7ade of the manor, one is easily able to distinguish between the construction of the noble and stately part.
